To strengthen our team in Japan we are looking for a

Application Engineer (m/f/d)

Your tasks:

• Be a primary technical contact for customers and support their way to innovation
• Understand application requirements & how these translate into technical product specifications and provide suitable solutions to the customer
• Install, configure, and commission photonics systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction together with our local Engineering team from Menlo Systems HQ
• Engage with existing customers and foster sustainable cooperation
• Conduct on-site visits and demonstrations showcasing the capabilities and applications of our photonics solutions, partially with colleagues from the German HQ
• Interact between customers and internal teams, including engineering, product management, and R&D
• Identify new markets and applications
• Support RFQ responses together with the Sales Manager and Assistance
• Represent our cutting-edge solutions during industry events, trade fairs, and technical conferences by delivering presentations

Requirements:

• Completion of a graduate degree in Physics, Photonics or Optical Engineering – New graduates are welcome to apply
• Knowledge of photonics and laser technology and their applications in research and industry
• Native Japanese language skills or very good Japanese language skills (JLPT-2)
• Strong English language skills required to communicate with our head office in Germany
• Willingness to travel

Following experience is nice to have, not mandatory:

• Knowledge of femtosecond fiber laser powered solutions, such as frequency combs, terahertz systems, quantum and synchronization solutions
• Experience in technical support, application engineering, or sales roles within the photonics environment
• Familiarity with research lab environments or academic systems
• Experience in studying or working in the U.S. or Europe
